1998 (Junior):
Earned the starting setting duties during the middle of the season…started
in 17 matches, averaged 17.83 apg, which would've ranked him among
the top setters in the country…directed UH to a 13-4 record
as a starter…started the year as a swing hitter and occasionally
came in to set as a back-up to Jorge Perez…dished out a career-high
80 assists in a three-set loss to Pepperdine (Mar. 7)…recorded
65 assists and 11 digs in leading UH to a straight-set win over
Brigham Young (Apr. 4)…posted a 64-assist, nine-dig, and
eight-block performance in win over UC Santa Barbara (Apr. 18)…in
MPSF action, had a 12.15 assist average.
1997 (Sophomore):
Appeared in 22 of 29 matches…played both setter and outside
hitter and was also used as a defensive specialist…was usually
the first substitute off the bench…recorded his best match
of the season posting career highs of nine kills, nine blocks
and eight digs against Pepperdine (Jan. 30)…also had eight
kills at Stanford (Apr. 2).
1996 (Freshman):
Came off the bench in 15 of 30 matches…had five kills vs.
La Verne (Feb. 24)…played in two games vs. UC Irvine and
recorded 34 assists…also came in to set against UC San Diego
(Mar. 29 & 30), dishing out 16 and 26 assists, respectively.
1995: Redshirted.
Prep: A 1994
graduate of McKinley High School in Honolulu…earned four
letters in volleyball…a two-time all-league selection…also
named OIA East Player-of-the-Year and tabbed honorable mention
all-state honors…Volleyball Monthly's Fab 50…coached
by former Rainbow Clyde Ching in 1993…graduated Magna Cum
Laude…a four-year scholar-athlete…participated on math
team and orchestra.

Born July 6, 1976 in Taipei, Taiwan…is of Taiwanese ancestry…plays
guitar in his spare time…most embarrassing moment was setting
a ball to the ceiling in the high school state tournament…has
two brothers, Sam and Loy…parents are Helen and Michael Kuo
of West Loch on Oahu.
